You are a cheesemaker in France. Your job is to make hard, soft and blue cheeses over a series of rounds. You need to satisfy customer orders, use your resources wisely and ensure you use your workers time effectively.

The aim is to be the best cheesemaker in all of France. Through a series of mini games, you will be battling it out to be the most lucrative cheesemaker. Each player has their own unique game board which is asymmetric which means that your starting resources and action spots/scoring will be different to the other players during the game. On your turn, you can usually play one worker to make some cheese and you can collect some resources. The difficulty is that some cheeses take longer to make than others and you need to way up how many turns you can do without your worker and whether it is worth making a more lucrative cheese or not.
Each mini game is scored individually at the end so you need to make sure you are in with winning some points in each section but you might want to go heavy for the area control or you might have maximised points on the scoring tables. Whatever your strategy, the fun is in trying out new things and seeing how you can make the most out of the resources you have.

Every game of this is enjoyable and it’s one of those games that you get to the table and you play (30 min for 2 players) then you instantly want to play another round. Whilst the choices as to what you can do each turn are limited, there are ways to stretch out your turn and trying to get your engine to work as well as possible for you is exciting for me. Can you build a building which allows you to get an extra worker space? Can you use your cows/goats effectively to allow you to make extra cheese without the need for a worker? If you can unlock these extra spaces and actions, then you can start to maximise your turns and you will not be impeded even if you have a worker who is held up making an aged cheese. The mini games always have me hooked with me trying to work out which areas to go all in on and which ones will I happily give up in order to make sure I make the most of my turns. I don’t feel like I have found an ideal strategy and we have played this a lot but I always end up feeling like I could do better each time I play and this is what has me coming back time and time again.
