Get into…Stickerville

GET INTO…STICKERVILLE
Get into…Stickerville overview

In Stickerville, you and your friends will create a village together.  There is no way to lose the game, but your decisions will cause permanent changes that can have both positive and negative effects on your village.

Get into…Stickerville gameplay

Over the course of 10 years (rounds) you select cards, make choices and add stickers to your town.  Each sticker you add, sets off a path in motion of other events, storylines and events that might occur as a result of making that decisions.  Some stickers add places where you can gain resources such as food and wood.  This is how you gain income each round.  Each year has it own deck of cards (12 in total) and you take it in turns to read out the cards and make the decisions on it.  Place a sticker, earn other cards and your village will begin to grow.

3 words to describe this game: cosy, sticker, choices

Get into…Stickerville components
1 sticker book
120 Event cards (10 decks of 12 cards)
60 catalogue cards
1 reference card
1 storybook
1 die
1 Save game box
12 food, 12 wood, 12 gold, 6 ore
1 map double sided

The sticker book is well made and stickers are easily peeled back.  None of the stickers tore or broke so I would say it is very well made.  The sticker book is well organised.  When you are asked to place a sticker it makes reference to a number and letter.  This corresponds to the page number and then where that sticker is on the page making it very easy to find the right stickers.  The art work on the cards are cute and cosy and its a pleasure to explore the different avenues.  The save game box is really helpful and you can collect all your cards and resources easily in the box marking with a progress sticker the year that you have just completed.   We had access to the premium tokens but I don’t feel like these were necessary and interestingly enough the artwork on the original cardboard tokens is better than the upgraded components.

Get into…Stickerville overall thoughts

This game is certainly addictive and you can consume it quite quickly – eager to get through the various years.  There are some really interesting things to find out and cards to discover (which I don’t really want to give away at this time as I feel spoiling it for others would ruin the element of surprise).  It is a lovely way to while away a few hours and choosing where to place your stickers is the most enjoyable experience.

You can play it twice with some elements of choice being taken away on the second time of playing although it didn’t affect game play too much.

The ending left me wanting more but only because in my head I had created more stories for my characters and I wanted to finish them – there is nothing that the makers of the game could have done to make the ending any better.  All good things do have to come to an end eventually.

I want to play it again so that is very telling and I can see me wanting to try to get a different score and see through the end of the story arcs for some characters and buildings that I failed to in the first play through.  Was lovely to watch the children create their own Stickerville on the second time around and I think this is going to be very popular perhaps even leading to more spinoffs.
